In the Kumamoto dialect, "Ikinari" means "easy, convenient" or "directly."
The name Ikinari Dango is said to be a combination of the fact that they can be made quickly to entertain guests who show up Ikinari, and the fact that they are "easy to make dumplings" made by slicing raw sweet potatoes, wrapping them in Ikinari Dango dough and steaming them.
