Honey-wrapped meat rice balls with shiso cheese
recipe
Ingredients (for 2 people)
- 200g rice
160g pork (thinly sliced belly)
- 4 perilla leaves
Cheese (for pizza) 30g
- 1 tablespoon roasted sesame seeds
Salt and pepper to taste
- Sesame oil (as needed)
Roasted sesame seeds (as needed)
- Soy sauce (sauce) 2 tablespoons
Acacia Honey [sauce] 1 tablespoon
- Honey Vinegar (1 teaspoon)
Sake [sauce] 1 tablespoon
- 1/2 teaspoon grated garlic (sauce)
How to make it
1
Mix the sauce ingredients in a bowl.
2Mix chopped shiso leaves, cheese, roasted sesame seeds, salt, and pepper into warm rice. Divide into 4 portions and shape each into a ball. Then, wrap the pork belly tightly around the rice, making sure it is covered.
3Heat sesame oil in a frying pan and place ② with the end of the roll facing down. Turn and fry for about 10 minutes until the pork is cooked through.
4Wipe off excess oil from the frying pan with a paper towel.
Add the seasoning and simmer until glossy and well combined.
Serve in a bowl and sprinkle with roasted sesame seeds.
5Tips
Form the rice into a rectangular shape and roll the pork lengthwise, then roll it horizontally to prevent it from falling apart when cooked. If the meat is thick and difficult to cook through, cover it and steam it.
